No Carousel For Old Gamers
A Present For My People
By coincidence, my birthday this year coincides with my Wednesday article posting.1
I am, as one can reasonably assume, out of the office today. That doesn’t mean you get nothing.
As I shall say again in a few months, I am grateful to all of you for subscribing- especially those of you who are paid subscribers.2
First, an anecdote:
Remember that I said there was an unresolved conflict from last month? That got sorted. What went down was the smoothest heist from a secured facility that I’ve yet seen.
Both players brought their A game. The defender, paranoid as all get-out, layered on the defenses good and thick: mistwalls to outline invisible infiltrators, regular patrols of men and beasts at all hours (on foot and flying, including bats), well-drilled security protocols to detect subversion, the works. The attacker, savvy and potent, prepared for maximum stealth and was not surprised at the degree of security; he brought tools to skirt or negate almost all of them.
My task turned out to be one of fine detail analysis .One small crack was enough to slip through. It took listening (or reading) each player’s plans to figure out where the point of decision was, but I found it and it came down to two checks- both won, by a hair, by the attacker. I won’t say how he did it yet, but I will give a hint- observe the principle, not the specifics.
Second: Below the paywall is my show of appreciation for your support. In the future, I will begin attaching maps from campaign play as well as revised adaptation articles and other things I’ve been putting into the campaign for paying subscribers. I will aim at doing that a few times a month for now.
Oh, and while I’m here allow me to spread the love to a fellow: Daddy Warpig. He’s finally talking about that Special Project of his that he’s been on about for years now; dev articles are paywalled, so give him a shot.
See you on Friday.
